Wedding at The Moat House | Kari & Steve

wedding at The Moat House

Just a few short weeks ago, Kari and Steve got married and held their wedding at The Moat House in Acton Trussell. Their day was full of fun and laughter; their guests were great fun and I particularly enjoyed their speeches, which included some interesting games and the good times carried on well into the evening when everyone took to the dance floor for a good old boogie. In typical English fashion, the day started with ominous weather but transpired to be just a clearing up shower and we were able to get outside to enjoy the beautiful grounds The Moat House has to offer.

How did you meet?
We met at the age of 19 at a mutual family friend’s birthday party in Rugeley. We hit it off straight away and 15 years later we finally married and share two wonderful children together.

Tell me your proposal story
Steve proposed at an unexpected night away after a champagne three course meal. We had a walk around the grounds at night time and he got down on one knee in front of the hotel and asked me to marry him.

Why did you choose the venue you chose for your wedding day?
We chose to have our wedding at The Moat House due to its surroundings and friendly atmosphere. The venue offered a variety of packages and staff were very friendly. Also they had the capacity for all our friends and family to stay over on the night of the wedding.

What was it you loved about your outfits and accessories that made you choose them?
I loved the detail of my wedding dress around my neck and the back it was a perfect fit. My jewellery matched the detail of my dress and also the pattern of my wedding ring. Steve chose navy blue for his suits as it’s a very sharp contrast against our colour schem,e peach which went well together.

Tell me about the vision you had for your wedding including your theme/colour scheme/styling/flowers:
We imagined a warm friendly environment that flowed through the day and night comfortably. I loved the colour peach which was the key colour that was used through our bridesmaid dresses and flowers. Roses are one of my favourite flowers so we decided this would be the main flower used but with a variety of other foliage. We wanted a bit of glamour with a rustic edge which we felt the venue gave us in every way. Simplicity was key but with a a twist of originality to reflect our personalities.

What was your first dance and why did you choose it?
Dj Sammy ‘Heaven’ was our first dance song, the slow version. The fast version was the song playing when we shared our first kiss on a night out a week after we met so it meant a lot to us both.

What were the best parts of the day for you?
Having all our friends and family around us and sharing our happiness. The food was amazing and the flow of bubbles! We also loved the night time when we could let our hair down and enjoy our day dancing with our favourite music .

Why did you choose Ian France as your photographer, and what was your experience of your photography on the day?
Following recommendation and seeing his work first hand at weddings we had both been to of mutual friends. He’s a fabulous photographer, friendly and helpful throughout with a great sense of humour which put everyone at ease. Perfect choice every time.

What would be your best bit of advice to other couples planning their wedding?
Relax and enjoy every moment as it really does go very fast. Dont worry about the finer detail if things don’t look right or exactly as you imagined, it has no reflection on the day. It’s your special day and everyone around you enjoys themselves more when they see how much you are.

Would you recommend Ian France to your friends?
Absolutely yes. Fantastic service, amazing photos and very flexible with changes if any need to be made.
